Nash (Potatoes)

Meet the newest member of The Long house.
His name is Nash Long.
He was born in March and came to live at our house at the end of April.
We had no intentions of getting another dog, but he was in a bad home so soon in his little short life that Michael and I decided we needed to be his parents and give him the best loving home we could. And I think he shows us everyday that he loves his new home.
He is a Westie mix, but we're not sure what he is mixed with. Michael loves that he is part Westie because his long time friend Kimo was a Westie mix and that makes him happy.
As you can tell by the photo's he is a little cuddle bug and a huge Momma's boy!
When I am in the shower he wants to get in and take a shower with me, I have never seen such a thing. At night he has to be touching me in order to sleep. It's so cute.
I am the one who was never a pet person. Before Michael, I never wanted dogs and especially not cats. And now...I love these fur babies more than I could ever have imagined possible.
Fur Children give very unconditional love and are really good for the heart.

Nashy sleeping in Mommy's arms. He loves to be cuddled and rocked to sleep like a baby.

Nita and Nash sleeping on the foot of the recliner. I look at this picture and smile. To me they're so adorable.

Grudges, Sadness and Love

Sometimes you sit back and think about someone or a certain situation and think, "what happened here"?
We used to get along so well and then with a blink of an eye it's gone, done, over with.
Not saying we are innocent by any means. But sometimes a misunderstanding can be pushed to the point that you can go years without talking to someone you love so much.
Along the way things were said and done to hurt each other by both parties.
How do you get over the hurt?
How do you mend fences?
Can you ever regain the trust and love you once had?
I sure hope so!
Contrary to popular belief I don't have control, if I did this thing would not have lasted this long!
Who makes the first move and how do you get the other person to understand you are extending an Olive Branch?
I guess maybe I don't understand the point of holding grudges, cause I can get over it just as fast as I got mad.
I can only work on me as a person and I know that for the past year and a half I have been working very hard to understand why I do some of the things I do and trying so hard to fix me.
I know things won't be fixed over night but with baby steps maybe the future can look a whole lot brighter :)

He's not only my husband, he's my best friend

When it comes to husbands I really think I got the cream of the crop, the grand prize, the Big Kahuna, the man I have dreamed of my whole life!
Almost 8 years ago I met the most wonderful man and a little over 6 years ago I married this man.
He is a great husband and I wouldn't trade him for anything.
He's an amazing husband and best friend, we have a great time together and can't wait to grow older together.
I just want the world to know I am so in love with my husband.

Welcome Mr. Nemo

In the past year Kaitlyn has expressed her desire to become a pet owner. Michael and I let her know that with a pet of your own comes great responsibility, you can't just get a pet and then forget about it. They require great love and time and caring. And she promised that if we let her get a cat she would take very good care of it.

After much discussion we decided that we would let Kaitlyn get a cat or a kitten, because that is the pet she really wanted.
I let Kaitlyn know that I really wanted to go to Kitty City at the Humane Society in Murray. I felt adoption an older cat would be a great idea since they're usually not as much work as a kitten and we would be saving a Cat from the life behind bars.

The first time we went I let Kaity know that we were going to let the cat choose her (my niece said this is the best way to get a cat) and she agreed. That way the cat would love her back and be her constant companion. So we went from room to room talk to and holding many different cats. There were some wonderful cats, but none really took a liking to Kaity. So we went home and waited for about 2 weeks and went back and did the same thing and yet again nothing. Finally the 3rd time was a charm. We went into a room and Kaitlyn sat down on the floor and this wonderful white boy cat with one blue eye and one green eye came up to Kaitlyn and sat right down in her lap. He wanted some lovin' and that's what Kaity did, she gave him some lovin'. When she got up he followed her staying right by her side where ever she walked. When we left the room he wanted to leave with her but we told him we would be back. After going to other rooms none of the other cats seemed to be interested in bonding with Kaitlyn, I said "Let's go back and see Nemo again"
Kaity agreed and when we walked back into that room there he was waiting for her. I think he knew she'd be back.
Nemo was the one, so I filled out all the adoption paperwork and we headed home with our newest family member. Nemo Keepers Long.

When we got home we knew that our dogs needed to have time to meet the cat. At the Humane Society they said to give it a week. So we put Nemo in Kaitlyn's room and let them sniff each other through the door. Noah and Nita were so curious about this thing in Kaity's room. Finally after a couple of days with the dogs camped outside of Kaity's room we decided to give it a try. Nemo wasn't a bit scared of those dogs, as a matter of fact he seemed excited to have someone else to play with in his new home. And our pups were quite curious, yet never wanting to hurt our new family member.

Now a few months down the road Nemo has fit into our family perfectly. He loves Kaitlyn exactly how she wanted him to love her. He loves the rest of our family too. And he an Noah are pals, Nemo is constantly rubbing up against Noah, and Noah doesn't mind a bit. Nita keeps her distance although Nemo loves her. One day Nita was sleeping on the sofa and Nemo got on the sofa and laid next to her and fell fast asleep. I would say we got the best cat in the world and I think he got a pretty great family too!

Our son the Graduate

Michael and I are so very proud of this young man.

School was not always easy for him however he worked hard and made it.
We Love You Dakota!
Congratulations

Passive Aggressive by Design

You kept him from having any kind of family and then YOU turn your back on him.
How EVIL can you be.
You taught him how to walk away from his son.
Why not you did it?
You are the reason he is scared to say what he is thinking.
He is afraid to say anything to anyone because the first two women in his life were so controlling.
You say he is passive aggressive, guess who taught him to be like that?
Never allowing him to have any kind of feelings or opinions.
And when he does finally stand up to you, you think someone is behind him making him say these things.
Women who turn their back on their children leave little to be desired in my book. To me it takes more love and heart to stick around when your child is not being the person you raised them to be then to walk away never to be heard from again. Nothing like raising your child to feel worthless and then turning your back on them to confirm those are your true feelings. It takes a better person to tell their child they love them, even when they aren't so perfect then to turn your back on them.

You're so Vain, I'll bet you think this BLOG is about you!

Most people will deny that they are Narcissistic, and actually a lot of them have no idea that there is a word for their behavior.
In everyday speech, "narcissism" often means egoism, vanity, conceit, or simple selfishness. I would say we all either know someone like this or a few people like this.
And to those people who think that anything I blog about is about them I say GET OVER YOURSELF!

Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas exactly 2 months to the day late.
Only 2 months well I would say that is not too bad! What is wrong with me, when it comes to having to be somewhere at a certain time I am almost OCD about being on time EVERY time, but when it comes to sending out Christmas cards or greetings, well it is a procrastination thing I share with my wonderful husband. However I do come by it naturally, I was born into a whole slew of procrastinators. Just ask my sister in laws they'll tell you! ;)
Is it procrastinating or is it time management and prioritizing? Something I ask myself should be, will time stand still if I don't blog about every freaking move I make like some people do (not putting you people down, but come on there has to be more to life then spending lots of money on a trip just to rush home to put it on your blog only to sound like a bragging snob).
Christmas was wonderful, seriously how can it not be when 4 of your 9 grandchildren get to come and enjoy it with you? Christmas is all about kids to me and when there are no more little ones to enjoy it with well then I guess it will be no more fun.
Christmas is about family and just being together, not about presents.
Next year everyone is getting a homemade gift, I wonder what they'll think?
Michael and I will be saving our money for a cruise!!!

Sorry for the long absence

Sometimes life gets so busy and you just want to enjoy the moment while you're in it.
I take pictures and get too tired to blog about it.
However, what's the use of saving the memories if I don't share! I will be catching up soon.
A lot has happened, our family has grown by 4 feet...Welcome Lincoln Faye Higley and Autumn Raine Long. I will post pictures soon. Michael and I have been doing some home improvements and I will be posting photo's soon. I have been putting to use my crafting skills and making all kind of things and will post photo's soon.
Life is great in the Keepers Long Home, happier than ever because the Lord has blessed us with each other and the people who truly love us.
